Some time back... I grew up in Southern Germany, close to the beautiful foothills of the Alps with its happy cows and pretty villages. That must be why I love illustrating animals and interesting places. If you add a few children and a good story, then we have a children's book.
I have illustrated all different kinds of fiction and non fiction books for kids of all ages. I enjoy the creativity in fiction stories. For nonfiction projects, the research and learning about the subject matter is lots of fun.
Holding a Diploma in Communication Design from the Fachhochschule in Mainz, Germany, and having worked in the online education industry during the Dot-Com era, I like putting down the pen and brush every now and then, to design on the computer or program for a website.
During my student years, I had the privilege to study Illustration at the Academy of Art College (now University) in San Francisco. A few years later I returned for the masters program and left with a couple of awards under my belt.
Since 2001, I have been making my living as freelance illustrator, painter and graphic designer. I have worked on everything from books, murals and tattoos, to prop design and paintings on cakes. My most featured cake paintings were on Oprah Winfrey's 50th Birthday cake, as seen on her TV show.
Book and jigsaw puzzle projects have been keeping me busy the last few years and I have published books for the American, European and Asian market. (Go to the Books & Games section for a list of publications.)
I have started my next step of publishing my own stories, which include the Wild West, since I live in the Reno area surrounded by the Sierra Nevada mountains and the vast Nevada desert.
